Saturday Night ~ OSO Presents “Art Projects” EP Release Show/Interactive Art Party

Join OSO in the continuous, conscious campaign for goodness, positivity, and consideration for all things through art.

On Saturday, May 12 at 8:00 p.m. at the Fine Line Music Café in Minneapolis, OSO will release her EP Art Projects through an interactive art show that …includes a range of local musicians, fashion designers, painters, models and OSO much more.

OSO will be joined by all things local including a live band featuring dVRG from Heiruspecs, Mayda, Dano de la Mano, Luis Ortega from Malamanya and more, along with openers MC Longshot and electronic band Wiping Out Thousands. Distinctive to this show will be a live design competition, interactive art display and local fashion from Project Runway contestant Danielle Everine, b. (a resale shop) and more.

OSO (bear in Spanish) is a childhood nickname of Tearra Rosario that has now come to represent a culmination of artists – two separate, infinite symbols (O), connected by another (S), that creates a connected whole. OSO is an intersection of Minnesota fashion and soulful R&B, electronic, hip-hop music featuring the native Minnesotan and Saint Paul resident. Tearra’s work and forms of expression have been shaped and inspired by many different genres of art and artists. Shows and events featuring OSO are the sum of a diverse group of artists from different disciplines who collectively present art that speaks to its audience in a plethora of ways. Art and collaboration have become so imperative to Tearra’s life and work that she named her eight song EP Art Projects and will release under her moniker, OSO!   RSVP here

BGF Brand Launch

We absolutely adore Ms. Joan Erakit of the infamous Brown Girl Files, & are so glad she is out running the streets in MPLS.

She recently launched Brown Girl Files the Brand, and we can’t wait to see the magic this fancy lady and her crew work on our city.

Peep more info from Ms. Joan below:

BGF is a lifestyle brand that I started in February to move towards the next level, after writing a blog for three years.  I truly believe in growing and, wanted a place to nurture my love for commerce and fashion.  At BGF, we believe in simplicity and minimalism — everything we do is with an aesthetic that is simple, yet classic.  The bare essentials of good design, well written text, fabulous parties, and unique style is what we’re interested in.  With BGF, we have three facets:  TheBlog, TheParties and ThePublication.  TheBlog is updated weekly, with art summaries, collection reviews, and daily antidotes into a life of style.  TheParties focus around LastNightFamous, a dance party that incorporates talented DJs and fashion photographers.  ThePublication is a seasonal magazine about art and fashion.  We stay pretty busy!

weekend musts

not quite sure how one is supposed to choose between the following 2 events going on Saturday night.. so Mr. White will be headed to 7th Street to hear Chaka spit some knowledge & I will be hitting up The Cedar to ease my soul…

Saturday – March 24th

I Self Devine Presents The Culture Series: REPORTS FROM THE FIELD – 7th Street Entry.  (event info)

this is the 3rd installment of a 4 part series.. peep more info (and free downloads) here.   a must attend if you dig MPLS hip hop.

If you looking for a more chill night of music.. head over to The Cedar for Ms. Chastity Brown’s album release. (event info)

If you’re a frequent b. shopper, you’ve probably heard Ms. Chastity Brown soulful voice playing in the shop.  We’ve been a huge fan of hers after hearing her play at the Dakota, and attended almost all of her Songwriter Sunday night series.   Her shows leave you with a quiet peacefulness…

Openers Black Audience are also one of our personal MPLS favs..  blues, gospel, soul.. the kind of music you feel deep inside.

this is the beauty of MPLS… two crazy hot show options on the same night.  given the timing of each show, you could pull a marathon night and hit up both.  show the locals some love, b/c we are so lucky to have such talent residing amongst us.

b. (local)

Our dear friends Malena & Mike over at Easy Bean came home last Monday, to find that a fire had rolled through their farm.  Lost was 2 greenhouses, a brand new tractor, Malena’s art studio along with many of her amazing pieces, their garage, & Mike’s truck.  The 1 greenhouse that already had seeds started was luckily spared!!

Their strong community of family & friends are currently pulling together to get the farm up and running again before the planting season begins in a couple of weeks, but this loss will definitely hit the farm up with some financial needs over the next few months!!

So…..

if you are looking  for a CSA to join this year, please consider getting your locally grown organic goods from Easy Bean.  The biggest way everyone can help is by signing up for a full or half share today!  We had a half share last summer and there were so many veggies we were able to share our box with our friends!  So buddy up, sign up, & expect lots of tasty (organic) veggies all summer long, while supporting locally grown goods!!!

Find more info on Easy Bean and their farm share options  here

also, if you simply want to donate funds to help them recover from the fire, an account has been set-up here for cash donations:

Easy Bean Farm account, Montevideo Coop Credit Union/Box 447/Montevideo, MN

We are also collecting donations at the shop, and have copies of Malena’s cd for sale!!!
