Our dear friends Malena & Mike over at Easy Bean came home last Monday, to find that a fire had rolled through their farm. Lost was 2 greenhouses, a brand new tractor, Malena’s art studio along with many of her amazing pieces, their garage, & Mike’s truck. The 1 greenhouse that already had seeds started was luckily spared!!
Their strong community of family & friends are currently pulling together to get the farm up and running again before the planting season begins in a couple of weeks, but this loss will definitely hit the farm up with some financial needs over the next few months!!
So…..
if you are looking for a CSA to join this year, please consider getting your locally grown organic goods from Easy Bean. The biggest way everyone can help is by signing up for a full or half share today! We had a half share last summer and there were so many veggies we were able to share our box with our friends! So buddy up, sign up, & expect lots of tasty (organic) veggies all summer long, while supporting locally grown goods!!!
Find more info on Easy Bean and their farm share options here
also, if you simply want to donate funds to help them recover from the fire, an account has been set-up here for cash donations:
Easy Bean Farm account, Montevideo Coop Credit Union/Box 447/Montevideo, MN
We are also collecting donations at the shop, and have copies of Malena’s cd for sale!!!

Finally checked out the new Republic restaurant over on the West Bank with my girl Ann this weekend, and I think I have found my new favorite bar in MPLS.. not only was our food delicious (fish and chips for me and fried ricotta for her), they also had local music blasting through the speakers! Over the course of the night we heard songs by Atmosphere, Chastity Brown, Doomtree, Dessa, and of course Prince.. totally loving it!! (get there fast)
