b. (hood) part 2

places to check out in our hood!

Beadhive Beads

Beadhive is a cozy bead shop located right next to us. They sell out-of-the-ordinary beads, plus all the basic tools and findings used to create beautiful beaded jewelry.  Feeling creative, take one of their many jewelry making classes!  They also do jewelry repair, design consultation, and jewelry construction.  We adore watching all of the kiddies stomping into their shop for bday parties and such!

Scott Ja-mama’s

Looking for tasty, cheap eats.. Scott Ja-mama’s BBQ is located right around the from b. and is definitely worth a try!  Their menu is short and sweet, offering the BBQ basics such as chicken, pulled pork, and of course ribs with delicious coleslaw and twice baked potatoes to add on.  A quarter chicken meal is just $5.50.. seriously $5.50 for some chicken, potato, coleslaw, and a piece of bread.  The space is small, with just one table, so plan on doing a take-out order unless you want to make some new friends chatting up Scott and other customers as they wait for their food.

farm to table – Wise Acre Eatery

Oooh la la.. if you haven’t made your way to the new Wise Acre Eatery in Tangletown, you are missing out on some super tasty farm to table delights!

Located just a block north of our shop, my pocketbook is going to be a bit lighter over the next couple of months;)

The restaurant is from the brothers of Tangletown Gardens, and features breakfast, lunch, and dinner food items made from items coming straight from their farm.

What I have consumed (so far)

  • Dill pickled Fried Chicken (OMG)
  • Snap peas prepared like edamame
  • Spicy Egg Salad sandwich (delicious)
  • Wild Rice Cole slaw (yum)
  • And of course the choc brownie, topped with vanilla custard and hot fudge (umm, hello)

Can’t wait to try the homemade corndog, word on the street is that it rivals the one @ the State Fair
